About Us

History

FSHI evolved from the Consortium For Tobacco-Free Karnataka (CFTFK) which was conceived in 2000.

2000 – CFTFK was conceived
2001 – was Formally created
2019 – Was Formally registered
2020 – CFTFK REbranded as fshi
CFTFK was conceived by Dr Ramesh Bilimaga (Bengaluru Institute of Oncology), Dr Pratima Murthy (NIMAHNS), and Mr S J Chander (SOCHARA) in 2000.

The goal of CFTFK is to safeguard the public, with a particular focus on children and youth, from the harmful effects of tobacco consumption. This coalition aims not only to raise awareness but also to advocate for policies and laws that protect individuals from the dangers of tobacco. Since its establishment, CFTFK has conducted extensive public awareness campaigns throughout Karnataka and actively lobbied the state government to implement strategic programs and enact legislation. Formally registered on March 13, 2019, CFTFK continues its vital work to combat tobacco use and its detrimental impact on society, especially among the younger generation.

Within a year of registration, the board felt the need to rebrand itself to widen the scope of the work The reason for widening our field of activity was also due to continuous input from the parents to include other adolescent issues. Thus, the Foundation for Sustainable Health India (FSHI) emerged in 2020 and CFTFK became an initiative under the FSHI umbrella.
